Sven is a one-year-old Yorkie in a house with a German Shepherd and another Yorkie. For size, I visualize the old cartoon characters, Mutt and Jeff, as Sven later describes his relationship with the big dog. He tells me he is cute and rambunctious. I asked him to explain and he told me, “I am independent; I am not concerned with what they think of me. I run the roost.” His person agreed – he is stubborn and wants to be in charge.
Sven went on to say he tries to be the boss of Koda, the German Shepherd (see Mutt and Jeff in your mind). Koda doesn’t let me, but the people don’t know Koda and I have dominance issues. Looks like we, ‘kinda fight.’ They try to stop us before it gets bad. The woman told me Sven is mean to Koda and we do have to break them up.
Sven told me he gets to attack and tear up stuff; it makes me feel important. His person said Sven isn’t destructive, but maybe he is expressing wishful thinking.
I was told Sven hasn’t responded very well to his potty training. When I asked him about it, he told me, “I’m in charge; potty training is my dominance. They can’t control me.” His person told me he likes to mark his territory.
The household seems to be typical of many other homes, with issues here and there and lots of love to endure the issues. O happy days to Sven, his people and the other inhabitants of this home.
